The P Family

I first met S at my neighborhood park when she was very pregnant with her 2nd child.  I remember thinking, wow, she is amazing, chasing after a toddler while heavily pregnant.  After little, or should I say big Ryan was born, S was still such a cool, calm, collective mom!  And I witnessed it first hand during our fun family shoot together.

Big brother Jacob is a rambunctious 3 year old and half-way through our shoot, he slipped and cut his head open.  There was a lot of blood.  But both Mom and Dad were so amazingly calm and it seemed like it didn't even phase Jacob at all!  He had a pretty nasty gash on his forehead, and S & M were so composed and cool as they cleaned the blood and tried to make the wound stop bleeding.  I totally admired how they handled it because I know that is why Jacob was so calm himself.  I know if it were my husband and I, we would have been freaking out!

Jacob was a trooper and we finished our session without any more accidents.  :)  Ryan hung in there too (it was close to his bedtime) and I think we got some great images of the P Family!  xo, V

Commercial Shoot: NotyBaby

I had the privilege to do a commercial shoot for NotyBaby.  My friend Maria started this business all on her own after having her son.  It has grown so much in such a short time and I'm so happy to have been a part of it!  Check out NotyBaby's beautiful handmade products, from gorgeous lush blankets (seriously so soft!), to fun car seat canopies and bibs on her Etsy store and become a fan on Facebook too!  Thank you to little models Morrissey & Graceland (and their mommies) who were beyond adorable!

Morrissey's mommy had this awesome pram & suitcase from the 1950's and Maria just so happened to have these hat boxes.  Love this!

One Post, Two Shoots

Some of you may be wondering where I've been.  I know!  I'm sorry, blog!! I've totally neglected you.

First, I was very busy in May because I was wrapping up the semester at Orange Coast College where I teach an Interior Design class.  Grading final projects, final exams, turning in grades... it gets overwhelming!  I was also busy getting ready for our long vacation.  We were in Hawaii on the island of Kauai to celebrate my brother's wedding.  It was amazing - and photos will come soon!  But first, time to catch up.

I had a few non-typical shoots before we went on vacation.  My first was a double baptism of my friend Tina's two children.  I really enjoyed shooting this wonderful event and capturing the emotion of the day.  Tina did a fabulous job coordinating the baptism, I only wish I made it to the reception to see all the amazing decor & food for the family.

Collage 1

I crashed my friend Charlene's Interior Design Studio class at Orange Coast College during their final presentation.  The class had an actual client and worked with an architect as well.  What an amazing learning experience for the students!  There is no better way to learn the process of design then to be in the middle of an actual project with clients.

Their presentation was wonderful and as you can see by the photos, we have a brand new building and studio.  It was great to be able to teach in such a nice environment!

After the presentation, we went outside the building for a few group shots:  students, instructor, clients, architect.   Thanks for letting me be a part of your day, Charlene!
